On the Calendar: National Handwriting Day!
January 23rd was National Handwriting Day and to celebrate, we wanted to share some of the most beautiful calligraphy we've seen here at Ahrens Designs.
Laura Hooper Calligraphy is an amazing calligrapher out of Alexandria, Virginia. On her website, you can purchase a number of calligraphy services, including having Laura Hooper (or someone on her team) making your place/escort cards.

She'll even write your guests' names on an oyster shell if that's something you're into.

If you need a sign for your wedding (whether a menu, Mr. and Mrs. signs, a welcome sign, or really anything at all) Laura Hooper does that, too.

One of her most in-demand services is to use her skills to address envelopes. Her prices for envelopes are actually broken down into tiers, prices growing with the level of skill and amount of time each envelope will require.
Paperglaze Calligraphy is owned and founded by a gifted calligrapher out of Ruston, Louisiana named Shannan Inman. We partnered with her on our "Well Dressed Table" event in November, where she taught a class on calligraphy. It was such an amazing time.

Paperglaze offers these classes for really anyone and anywhere. She's been literally all over the country teaching people how to do their own calligraphy.

In addition to teaching calligraphy, Shannan still does so many intimate pieces for her clients, including placecards,
signs,

and even special requests.

Carrie Created is run by Carrie Dodson, a Central Louisiana native who now lives and works in Baton Rouge. We've used Carrie to do the calligraphy for several of our weddings for invitations as well as specialty signage.
Carrie also has her own Etsy page where she sells one-of-a-kind handmade pieces.
In fact, check out Debbie's mugs that Carrie made for her!
We love our calligraphers, wether local or out of town. We can't wait to do even more weddings and other events so that we can use their talent. Where do you get your favorite calligraphy?
