7 Savvy Storage Solutions

If you're like me, finding ways to store all of your home's knick-knacks and accessories can be daunting. Most of the time, my home just looks cluttered, which makes me embarrassed. So I've found some truly inspired ways to store the things in my home without it looking like I just stuffed things in the nearest basket.

Lift-Top Coffee Table

This has been a serious life saver. You can fold your throw blankets in there, stack your unread magazines, store catalogues, whatever. They come in a serious range of styles so that you can pick whichever suits your home's vibe. Plus, in lifting the top, you can save yourself from trying to bend at an awkward angle to use your computer on the couch. This has to be one of my favorite purchases for my home.

Stylish Outdoor Storage

Most people put their lawn tools in one of those unsightly metal tool sheds. Well, we are here to tell you that there are such better options! This outstanding obelisk was on HGTV's website and I couldn't love it more. It's just as fashionable as it is functional. Think of it this way: What good is hiding all of your shovels and rakes and things if the solution is to put them in an eyesore? So get creative with your shopping and find something that's just as fashionable as it is functional.

Concealed Cleaners

Nobody likes seeing the toilet bowl cleaner or the plunger in the bathroom. It's just an unpleasant reminder of unpleasant things. And let's be honest: everyone sees them tucked behind the toilet anyway. So one solution we came across was to hide all of those supplies within the wall. It's discreet, it's easy to access, and while it might not be a pretty look, it's definitely better than having these things strewn about on your bathroom floor.

Shower Alcove

The house I live in had one of these when we moved in and let me tell you it has been a God-send. I've always personally hated those extendable shower racks that you can buy at Walmart or Bed Bath and Beyond. They are so hard to clean. But this little cutout is just as easy to clean as the rest of the shower.

Under-the-Sink Storage

Nothing is more annoying to me than trying to do the dishes but having all of the sponges, scrapers, and scrubbers fall into the sink because they don't fit (or belong) in that little sliver of space behind it. So here's the simplest solution: make use of the faux-drawer you already have in front of the sink by pulling it off and adding hinges that allow it to open part-way. Then on the inside, add little cubbies for all of your dishwashing supplies. Done. No more sponges falling into the sink.

Hidden Knife Block

Alright so it's not technically a knife block, but it does the job. If you're low on drawer space and don't want your knives on the counter, The Drop Block is such a simple solution. I'm shocked I didn't find it sooner. Just mount it to your overhead cabinets and voila: a simple, sleek place to keep your knives. Bonus: it's also much harder for small children to get into since it's not where their little hands can reach.

Slim Storage

I love this method for storing anything from magazines to recipe books to cutting boards to pot lids. It's so simple and sleek that it can go either on the outside of your cabinets or inside the doors. There are a multitude of ways to make this storage solution work, but they are all genius.
